Dr. appts., Dr. appts., and MORE Dr. appts. Sure seems like there's a lot of them!
I/we had another check-up at the OB's yesterday - pretty uneventful. They took some measurements (said I'm all on track) and listened to the heart beat (beating beautifully)... all was "text book" as the NP commented.
Now... next appt. is exactly two weeks from today... and its a BIG one. Its the ultrasound to check out the baby in detail... AND... if we want... to find out the sex. However, we have not yet decided if that's an option we want. We're are in a debate. Brandyn wants to keep the sex a surprise... and I want to find out!!!
Brandyn REALLY wants the excitement of the baby being born and calling family/friends to say "Its a ...." Me... I just wanna know... 'cause I want to talk to the baby... bond with him/her more, etc. Oh... and buying clothes/decorating would be more fun too!
So... I put it out to you... our friends and family... do YOU want to know the sex of Baby C before he/she arrives in the world... or wait and let it be a surprise!
*Disclaimer: Your vote may or may not effect the outcome of our decision. (Yes, I work with lawyers!).

Hmmm, its tough when you can't agree - does one of you feel more strongly then the other? I'm so glad we found out though (not that we were considering not finding out) because its so nice to be able to talk to him by his name and get specific things for boys and all that other stuff. Besides, I say it is still a surprise whether you find out now or in 20 weeks, right?! :-)
To me its a suprise either way.. so YES!!!!!! I want to know!! I want to find out if Baby Madelynn will have a BFF for life or a her first boyfriend!!! ;-)
I agree...it's a surprise in two weeks, and it'll be a surprise in 5 months. Not much difference to me! I would totally want to find out. In fact, we're hoping to find out about our little one today!
Glad to hear that everything is going well, and no UTI :^)
You (A & B) could find out the sex but keep it a secret from family if you want.
I'd want to know the gender, just because a lot of clothes in the U.S. are gender specific.
I would want to know :) I agree that decorating and shopping would be more fun that way.
When we called everyone yesterday with details of the sex, it was so amazing and fun to tell them. And I totally cried during the u/s! It's a total surprise no matter when you find out : )
WAIT!!!!!!!! Chris wanted to wait and I was ok either way. I am so glad we did not find out and it got to be announced as Ryan was born. I know you still get the surprise either way but it was so powerful with seeing the actual baby at the same moment. We will not find out our next either.
I'm going to be NO help because while DH and I have decided that when the times comes, we'd want to know what we're having, we have friends who didn't find out with either of their kids and it was fun not knowing and then seeing how excited they were when babies were born and the announcement was made. I just know I'm too impatient to wait & I want a gender specific nursery, so I need to be prepared!
I say "YES". To us, we just figured that it's a surprise at 20 weeks or at 40 weeks. You still get to call people and say "It's a girl/boy".
:)
I wouldn't worry about shopping in advance. All we got pre-baby was neutral green or yellow, but now that he's here we have tons of blue! It's much nicer to have a variety, I think, and there's plenty of time for the gender-specific stuff later. I also think it might give you a little extra incentive to push if you don't know ;-)
Well, guys, having done both...I vote for waiting. (Sorry Alison!) Even though it was nice to have gender-specific clothes, it's really not THAT big a deal, and more importantly, there's nothing like hearing the baby cry and finding out the sex all at the same time. Besides...THEY CAN BE WRONG!!! Happened to two people I know. One from girl to boy, and one from boy to girl. But, of course, I'll support whatever you guys decide and love it either way.
On a side note, Aunt Denice may have a heart attack if you wait, but she'll live!
Oh, one more thing. There's PLENTY of cute ways to decorate that are gender neutral. REALLY!
you could always remind him that it'll still be SUCH AN EXCITING TIME when he/she is born and just saying "SHE's HERE! or HE'S HERE" will be very fun!!!
theres no way to take the excitement out of that day imo :)
Plus its SO nice to be able to prepare in a gender specific way!!
:)
im sooo impatient :-/
We waited - Kevin was OK either way, but I wanted to wait. I liked it that way but it drove some of my friends crazy!!! We just called him Peanut most of the time while I was PG.
PS - just discovered that you had a blog - yay!!!
LoL..I love the disclaimer!
I vote yes...I want to know!

I saw go with the surprise! You can always find out next time, but its easier to go with a surprise on your first!! Its the last thing in life that you can get surprised with!
We didn't find out... I was on the fence, but Jason was dead set on not knowing... so, I gave in to him, and couldn't have been happier.
1) I thought I needed to know the sex to "bond" better... you don't. It's still your baby.
2) Gender Neutral clothes/nursery translate really well to second children and friend's babies that you want to give clothes to.
3) If YOU feel like you need to bond more with your baby, whom you can talk to anytime you want, think of how B might feel. He gets so little say in what happens with his child right now... Throw the man a bone. ;)
GL with your decision! I can't wait to not find out next time!
Ummmm....lemme think about this one. YES I WANT TO KNOW!!!!
With no frame of reference whatsoever, my vote is to wait!! Sorry!
I want to know if baby C is a boy or girl. I am all for the element of surprise, but it is a surprise when you find out at the ultra sound as well.
Well... Sorry B, but I vote for FINDING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nope. I'm with Brandyn, leave it a secret until the big day. We didn't want to know with Caroline. Of course at that point all we cared about was a healthy baby after the scare we had. We just called her "Starbuck" until the big day. I have a cousin-in-law that called her daughter Madison "Hermie" until she was born.
You can keep things pretty neutral for the nursery and then add girl or boy touches afterward. They also grow out of their clothes SO quickly. Caroline is only 13 1/2 months and she is wearing 12-24 month clothes.
If you decide to find out just keep in mind that the techs CAN be wrong. Our office administrator was told it was a girl, she decorated the room in pink and bought "girly" clothes only to have a boy.
Hmm...it's tough! I was okay with waiting, mostly because it seemed everyone around me encouraged us to wait. Chris and my parents really wanted the surprise.
The whole time I thought it wasn't very practical because of all of gender neutral stuff. Now, I see that gender neutral stuff is actually more practical since it will be appropriate for any brothers and sisters for Sophie! I say if you think it will affect your ability to bond-- then that seems like a good reason to find out. If it's just so you get more pink or blue stuff then wait! The pink or blue stuff will come anyway!
