How many Mommies does it take to care for a newborn?

The answer is TWO.

Earlier this week, the principal at Brandyn's school called him and asked if he could make B a "deal" on his time off. B was supposed to have this week off... but the principal really needed/wanted B to come in... so he offered that if B worked Thur. and Fri. this week, he could have all next week off (since they are only doing SAT testing). GREAT deal!

So we called up my mom, who was supposed to come up and stay next week and asked if she could come a week early. She's been here since Wednesday, and BOY has she made our lives easier. She's been cooking, cleaning, holding Andrew, entertaining Andrew, and most of all... watching him from 9:30 p.m. until his next feeding (around midnight or 1 a.m.)... allowing BOTH Brandyn and I to get a VERY nice chunk of sleep.

What ARE we going to do when she's gone?!?

Moms at this time are indespensible! My mom stayed for almost 2 weeks and finally left yesterday. Now, after 1 pm, Eloise and I are still in our jammies, I had crackers for breakfast, and I cannot begin to think about getting off the couch and accomplishing anything. Obviously I still need my mom. Enjoy your mom and get plenty of rest while you can!

Sleeping from 9:30 to 1 is pure bliss when you have a newborn! It feels even better than a straight 8 hours BEFORE parenthood.

And I'm sure it's not breaking grandma's heart to spend all that time with Andrew! ;)

Too cute! Enjoy every tiring, blissful moment! My mom was with me for our "babies" - who are now 6 and 7! Where did those night feedings go??? ENJOY!

I am glad she is so much help. When my MIL came she was more in the way than helpful, same with my mom.

I'm home now and misssing my sweet smelling, angel cooing, late night buddy! I feel honored that you invited me to share in the family-bonding, first few moments in Andrew's life.
Love, Mom (Nana)

They say that it takes a village to raise a child and it sure seems like you really have a wonderful village around you. Moms are GREAT and a GODSEND especially during the early months. That pic of her holding Andrew is so sweet...and I'm glad that you have such a loving family!
